Roses are red,
violets are purple;
Sugar is sweet
and so is maple syrple.
- Roger Miller, ‘Dang Me’
Here in Rhode Island we are getting hit again with snow. But alas, it is February, and as long, cold and dismal as it can sometimes seem, there are still things to look forward to, like Valentine’s Day (which can really happen any time), the coming of Spring, and several Brown Bird shows in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont and New York… Not to mention that we’re in the studio! We can’t tell you when it will be released yet, but there is a new Brown Bird album coming into view on the horizon…
But in the meantime…
We’re excited to be sharing the stage with our friends The David Wax Museum, in Fall River, MA on the 5th…

…and then with the wonderful and talented Pete Bernhard (of The Devil Makes Three) a little later in the month for a few dates in RI, NH and VT. That means you have several chances to see some great shows (we’re big fans of Mr. Bernhard), and who says February’s not a good time for a roadtrip?
We’ll be at The Met Cafe in Pawtucket, RI with Pete and our buddies, the acclaimed Joe Fletcher and The Wrong Reasons on the 24th. The Met is our new favorite local venue, so if you haven’t been, and you’re in RI, shame on you! Come to this show!
Also, check out these videos from a recent show at The Midway Cafe in Boston!
Enjoy, stay warm, and invest in some snow tires if you take us up on the roadtrip idea…
Take care,
-Brown Bird

2010 was a good year for us: full of good changes, positive growth and great people. We have much to look forward to, and much to remember with fondness. Thanks to everyone who helped make 2010 so wonderful.
And now to welcome in the New Year…

We had a magical time at The Hogfarm in Biddeford, ME on New Year’s Eve, sharing the stage with our friends (and original Brown Bird Members) Jeremy and Jerusha Robinson, of South China. Check them out if you haven’t already. They are two of the finest musicians and people we know.
We’ll be up in Vermont this Friday at Headroom Stages in Brattleboro, and aside from a quick jaunt to Syracuse later in the month (details to come), January will find us close to home, recording the new album, getting acquainted with our new label (!), and sipping hot toddies by the stoveside with our big orange cat.
We hope everyone is entering 2011 in good health and high spirits!
Take care,
-Brown Bird
